A young man with nightshade hair lay mutilated where the demon once lay. I fell on my knees, spraying blood everywhere. Slowly, i waded through the blood on my hands and knees. I waded. Waded towards the man. I knealt over him, brushing my fingers through his silky hair. Smiling slightly, i pulled his head back, revealing his entire neck. I gently kissed his neck. There was no pulse, he was dead. Although I preferred live prey, I was starved. I had not fed in the company of the others...and I had been with them since we left the Harpies shelter, a few days, if not weeks ago.
I began to gently suck on his neck before biting down..and then, startled,I drew back. Curses! The spell had not completely worn off! These human teeth were too blunt to pierce his neck! I would have to do it the weak way...I took out a small dagger. Taking his wrist, I slit a small section. I placed my mouth over the cut. Blood filled my mouth...luckily he was a fresh kill, his blood was still warm.
After I was satisfied, I felt my unearthly strength and power returning to me. I stood up and looked at the passage. It was different. Of course it would be, my vampiric sight was returning to me. I also noticed how tired I was. I hadn't slept in a while and the sun was out.
Chanting, chanting...I turned my head in the direction of the noise...I was certain the others could handle the situation, they have been in far worse.
I began to run in the opposite direction. Out into the hallway we had come from. Down another corrider. This one was very different to the others. It was bright...almost cheerful. The floor was lined with emerald green carpets. The walls were covered with tapestries, right up to the ceiling which was well above 3 metres over my head. The images on most of the tapestries showed noblemen and princes fighting ancient creatures. As I walked, absorbing the beauty of the place, I also noted the use of the modern language. There was no trace of the ancient language here. Untill I came across a side door.
It appeared to be made of some metal, I could not tell what type. A word in the ancient language etched into its surface.
"Sovereign"
I pushed against the door...it gave easily...perhaps too easily.
A small room decorated in much the same fashion as the hallway. The tapestry here, however, portrayed a different story to the one outside. Here, the demons were killing the noblemen and princes. One demon caught my attention. His pointed ears and fangs gave much away.
In the centre of the room were twelve coffins. One against the wall was half open. I walked towards it, it was empty...I was half hoping there was a corpse in it. I slipped into it...yes, comfortable. The others will not find me here. I moved the lid, covering the rest of the coffin and shutting out all light from the castle. Now, I can catch up on my sleep!
